Who is Etienne "Patotte" Bousquet?

” Bousquet (1925-1998) was born in France, in the southern region of Langedoc-Roussillion, a place known for its rich cultural heritage and musical traditions. Bousquet was an extraordinary musician, with a powerful and unique technique that set him apart from other guitarists of his time. He was a gitan, a member of the Romani people with roots in Spain. His music was influenced by Corsican and Flamenco styles, which added a distinctive flavor to his compositions.

During the 50s and 60s, Bousquet was an active member of the gypsy jazz scene, playing in local bars, restaurants, and venues across southern France and Lyon. He was known for his passionate and energetic performances, which captivated audiences and earned him a loyal following.

One of Bousquet’s favorite places to perform was the “Marseille dive Au Son des Guitares”, located at 18 Rue Corneille. This venue was a gathering place for musicians and music lovers, and Bousquet was a regular fixture there.
