Who is Feigeli Prisor?

Feigeli Prisor, a talented German violinist, was born in Wittem, Germany, and embarked on his musical journey as a Gypsy Jazz guitarist within the Sinti community in Gerwen, The Netherlands. It was within this vibrant community that he found his passion for music and began honing his craft.

Prisor drew inspiration from renowned musicians Jozef “Wasso” Grünholz and his nephew Stochelo Rosenberg, both of whom played crucial roles as mentors in his artistic development. Their guidance and expertise influenced Prisor’s musical style, shaping him into the exceptional violinist he would become.

With his skills and dedication, Prisor made a name for himself in the Gypsy Jazz scene, particularly in the acclaimed Gypsy Jazz festivals in Samois. Leading his own band, the Prisor Jazz Band, he showcased his musical prowess alongside his nephew Senderlo Schäfer on guitar and his brother-in-law Tchawo Adell on double bass. Together, they created captivating and memorable performances that captivated audiences.

Prisor’s musical talents were not limited to live performances alone. He released two albums under his own name, “Old Memories” in 2008 and “Gypsy’s Heart” in 2009. The latter album featured collaborations with esteemed musicians such as Eddy Grünholz, Anton Sjarov, and Ulli Bartel, further elevating his artistic expression. In addition to his original compositions, Prisor delighted listeners with his interpretations of jazz standards like “Body and Soul,” “Cherokee,” “I’m Confessin’ That I Love You,” “I’m Getting Sentimental Over You,” and “My Blue Heaven.” In 2012, he released the album “Fetela,” which featured notable guest soloists including violinist Tim Kliphuis, clarinetist André Donni, and singer Nidja Prisor.

Throughout his career, Prisor was invited to perform as a guest artist at numerous international festivals in countries such as England, France, Hungary, and the Netherlands. Notably, he graced the stage at the Sinti Jazz Music Festival in Düsseldorf in 2017, leaving an indelible impression on the audience.

Currently, Feigeli Prisor resides in Gerwen, where he continues to share his musical talents and passion for Gypsy Jazz with audiences around the world. His contributions to the genre and his dedication to his craft have solidified his position as a respected and admired figure in the Gypsy Jazz community.
