Who is Felix Candelo?

Félix Candelo, an Argentine violinist, was born on March 9, 1979, in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He holds a degree in Violin from the Gilardo Gilardi Conservatory and a Bachelor’s degree in Composition from the University of La Plata. From a young age, he showed a great interest in music and began studying violin and music theory. His dedication and talent allowed him to enter the prestigious Latin American Violin Academy in Caracas at the age of 12.

Throughout his career, Félix Candelo has been a part of renowned orchestras in Argentina. Between 2005 and 2008, he was awarded a scholarship to join the Academic Orchestra of the Teatro Argentino as the first violinist. Additionally, since 2005, he has been a member of the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Berisso. He has had the privilege of performing in prestigious venues and theaters such as the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Teatro Argentino in La Plata, the Kirchner Cultural Center, the Salón de los Pasos Perdidos (Chamber of Deputies), the San Martín Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, the Independencia Theater in Mendoza, the Centro Cultural España in Santiago (Chile), among others.

In 2009, Félix Candelo decided to venture into the world of jazz, exploring a new musical approach. Seeking to perfect his skills in this genre, he traveled to the Netherlands to study with renowned violinist Tim Kliphuis. Since then, he has participated in prominent jazz festivals such as the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, the Django Argentina Festival, the International Gypsy Swing Festival in Chile, and the Jazz Django Festival in Bolivia. His versatility as a musician has allowed him to merge his classical music background with the fascinating world of jazz.

In addition to his career as a performer, Félix Candelo has excelled as an educator. He has taught violin, orchestral practice, and jazz violin at the Bachillerato de Bellas Artes (UNLP) and at Higher Art Institutes such as the Gilardo Gilardi Conservatory and the Art Schools of Berisso and Florencio Varela. He has also taught harmony, counterpoint, and musical morphology at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the National University of La Plata.

Félix Candelo has demonstrated his passion for music in various roles, including directing and assisting in youth orchestras, teaching music history, music theory, and chamber music. His commitment to music education and his talent as a performer make him a prominent figure in Argentina’s music scene.
