Who is Mondine Garcia?

Mondine Garcia, (1936–2010), Born in France. He was part of the second generation of guitarists after Django Reinhardt.

He is the father of the also gypsy jazz guitarist Ninine Garcia. Mondine Garcia had a carreer in France. He performed together with lot of Gypsy Jazz artists of the moment, in venues, tributes, festivals. He shared stage with artists like Moreno Winterstein, Dorado Schmitt and Marcel Campion, and Angelo Debarre. His main place was “La Chope des puces”, at Porte de Clignancourt on rue Des Rosiers, Saint-Ouen.

His last appearances was at the Festival Jazz Muzette.

Mondine Garcia played for decades on a Favino manouche guitar, fitted with a pickup Stimer model S51 held on by packing tape, the string action “adjusted” by a folded wad of paper beneath the bridge.

Mondine contributed to the legacy of Django Reinhardt, in all his performances and presence in the Paris Jazz Scene.
