How Repiso started selmer guitar replicas?
Jorge Lagos was an Argentinean Jazz guitarist who lived with French Gitans in Paris during the 1950s, played a crucial role in the development of Jazz Manouche. While living there, he learned how to play the style and even met Eugene Vées (there is a picture below) and Django Reinhardt.
Upon returning to Argentina, Jorge Lagos brought a Selmer guitar to luthier Sergio Repiso, who then produced excellent replicas after copying the instrument. This exchange between the two musicians helped to spread Jazz Manouche to Argentina and beyond.
